Artist: Maureen Light

Maureen has lived a nomadic adventurous life. Not content to limit herself to painting and photography, she is now, a founding director of the Kamloops PrintMakers Society.

Back packing in South East Asia in the early 80’s lead to travels and residences in the Caribbean and Europe in the 1990’s, she returned to Canada and received a Bachelors degree in Asian studies from the University of Victoria. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, she travelled to most of the major art galleries in Europe while studying art history. During this period, she moved to the interior of BC and received her second Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. With the support of her best friend who is her husband she has been working on her arts career in the last few years.

In 2006, a solo trip to China and Tibet for an art residency program resulted in her most recent art exhibition. Exploring non-verbal communication through her oil paint portraiture is the theme for this body of work. Her current photographic travels to South America will be used to build that body of work.

Maureen has been in group and solo shows and her art is in collections in North America and China.
